Kovo 10 d. Kūno kultūros ir sporto departamente buvo pristatytas pirmasis Lietuvos sporto enciklopedijos tomas, kurį Kūno kultūros ir sporto departamento užsakymu parengė ir išleido Lietuvos sporto informacijos centras.

Pirmojo tomo pristatyme dalyvavo jo rengėjai, Lietuvos sporto vadovai, Seimo ir Vyriausybės atstovai bei enciklopedijos „herojai“ – Lietuvos Respublikos Prezidentas, buvęs sportininkas ir  išeivijos sporto organizatorius Valdas Adamkus, dukart olimpinė čempionė Angelė Rupšienė ir dukart olimpinis čempionas Virgilijus Alekna.

On 26^th January, the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee celebrated its 20^th anniversary.

The best Lithuanian athletes of 2009 and their coaches were honoured and awarded at the large studio of Lithuanian TV on 8 January. Simona Krupeckaite, world champion and record-holder in track cycling was elected as the best Lithuanian athlete. Parliamentary Speaker Irena Degutiene presented the best athlete of the year with a traditional LNOC prize Stanislovas Kuzma's sculpture Šaulys (Archer). A prize of sponsors - a cheque of 50'000 LTL - was presented by Gedvydas Vainauskas, editor-in-chief of daily Lietuvos Rytas, and Antanas Muraška, general manager of loterry enterprise Olifeja.

Lietuvos tautinio olimpinio komiteto, loterijų bendrovės „Olifėja" ir dienraščio „Lietuvos rytas" rengiamuose rinkimuose iš viso balsavo 9468 skaitytojai. Simona Krupeckaitė surinko net 78197 taškus. Antras - plaukikas Giedrius Titenis - 55350, trečias - lengvaatletis Virgilijus Alekna - 49257 taškai. Geriausia komanda - Vilniaus „Lietuvos ryto" krepšininkai.

Rinkimuose dalyvavo 9468 dienraščio „Lietuvos rytas" skaitytojai bei interneto svetainės lankytojai. Supažindiname su visais rinkimų rezultatais:

On 16 December, following a long-standing tradition, with the approaching Christmas Holiday, the Lithuanian sport veterans, former top level athletes gathered at the LNOC headquarters in Vilnius. 2009 was a challenging year as we have been hit by one of the heaviest crises ever. From year to year strenghtening relations with the retired prominent athletes, the Lithuanian NOC established „Olympic Family" programme which aims to facilitate former athletes' living conditions. Since 1999 within the framework of this project we fund them with two-type (first & second degree) Olympic pensions.

Gruodžio 16 d. LTOK būstinėje buvo surengta Lietuvos olimpinio sporto veteranų tradicinė Kalėdinė popietė. Svečiams ir LTOK darbuotojams koncertavo Kauno rajono  Batniavos moksleivių ansamblis „Karklinėlis". LTOK prezidentas Artūras Poviliūnas Olimpinėmis žvaigždėmis apdovanojo šiemet jubiliejus šventusius buvusius irkluotojus Vytautą Butkų, Joną Pinskų, dviratininką Juozą Grabauską, LTOK lėkšte - boksininką Joną Čepulį.

On 14 December 2009, four teachers from Singapore, being on a visit to paired Lithuanian school in the region of Siauliai city,  payed their official visit to the Lithuanian NOC headquarters in Vilnius.

Friends@YOG- School- NOC Twinning Programme offered attractive opportunity to engage, educate and inspire our students and athletes, when less than one year remained until Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.  The guests also had an excellent  opportunity to profile our NOC and our youngsters to  learn more about Singapore people and culture.

On 20 November 2009, the Lithuanian Olympic Academy celebrated two notable  events - firstly the 20^th years anniversary of its foundation and furthermore the 15 years commemoration to its journal "Sports Science".

The celebration was attended by Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, LNOC President Arturas Poviliunas and Ritas Vaiginas, acting Director General of the State Department for Physical Education and Sports.

On Wednesday, 18 November 2009, Vygaudas Usackas, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Lithuania, at the LNOC headquarters, presented Arturas Poviliunas, the Lithuanian NOC president, with the Lithuania's Thousand Year Star decoration in recognition of his valuable services and representation to the Lithuanian sports over the years. He named him as Sports Ambassador as he succeeded to build a solid foundation of cooperation with political and governmental forces, as well as international organizations.

The award ceremony took place in the presence of numerous personalities from the worlds of sport, politics and media.
