Most medals won (from a total of 37 teams) by: 1. Russia – 37 (17, 9, 11), 2. Italy – 24 (12, 2, 10), 3. France – 22 (9, 5, 8).

Lithuania in the Olympic Festival

For the second time in the history of participation in Youth Olympic Festivals the young Lithuanian athletes did not win any medals. In Tbilisi many of the 45 Lithuania’s representatives were extremely close to winning medals, and several of them reached new Lithuanian records and bested their personal results.

The Lithuanian athletes participated in track and field athletics, swimming, judo, cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, and tennis events.

12 track and field athletes competed in the Festival. The best among them was the team’s captain and flag-bearer Agnė Jonkutė who placed 4th in discus throwing and shot put events High jumper Urtė Baikštytė won 5th place. Dominykas Matijošaitis placed 6th in the 2000 m hurdles.

Swimmers’ team was the second biggest of the Lithuanian teams in Tbilisi. 11 Lithuanian athletes participated in swimming events and 6 of them placed among top 10 finishers. Seven of our swimmers bested their personal results, also, 4 Lithuanian records were reached.

3 out of 6 judokas – Antanas Kmieliauskas, Donatas Sabonis and Miglė Julija Dudėnaitė – were very close to winning medals, but all placed 5th.
