The New Leaders project is an initiative of the Honorary President of the European Non-Governmental Sports Organization, holder of the IOC Continental Prize for Women and Sport and author of the project, Birgitta Kervinen from Finland. The project promotes equal expression of young leaders of both genders in sports organizations. This new and unique leadership programme was coordinated by the Finnish Olympic Committee and supported by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the European Olympic Committees (EOC). The project’s partner the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LNOC) was trusted with the honor of organizing the project’s first seminar.
The training program of the project, which took place in from January to December, 2019, consisted of 3 meetings in different countries (Lithuania, Ireland, and Azerbaijan) and the final conference in Finland. Between the meetings the participants had to carry out special tasks and activity plans.
The program was attended by 15 men and women from European national Olympic committees, international federations and other sports organizations. Two of the participants were Lithuanian – Vilius Srėbalius (Klaipėda “Gintaras” sports center) and Laurynas Žibolis (Lithuanian Football Federation).
