Győr 2017 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival

Most medals won (from a total of 38 teams) by: 1. Russia – 61 (30, 19, 12), 2. Italy – 38 (14, 11, 13), 3. Hungary – 41 (13, 14, 14), … 26. Lithuania – 2 (1, 1, 0).

Lithuania in the Olympic Festival

70 Lithuanian athletes participated in canoeing, cycling, judo, gymnastics, basketball, track and field athletics, swimming, and tennis events. This was the most numerous delegation of Lithuanian athletes in the history of the European Youth Olympic festivals. Two Lithuanian teams – boys’ and girls’ basketball – played in Győr.

Our country’s representatives climbed the victory podium twice: the basketball team won gold and judoka Justina Kmieliauskaitė on silver.

More than half of the members of the boys’ basketball team coached by Edvinas Justa were from Vilnius: Marekas Blaževičius, Ąžuolas Tubelis, Tomas Zubrys, Erikas Jermolajevas, Ernestas Naruševičius, Ignas Goliančikas, and Adas Šimonis. Nojus Pankratjevas from Jonava, Laurynas Vaištaras and Lukas Kreišmontas from Plungė, and Modestas Kancleris and Gabrielius Čelka from Kaunas also became champions.

Cyclist Akvilė Gedraitytė (individual race) and swimmer Kotryna Teterevkova (100 m breaststroke) were 4th. Lithuanian girls’ basketball team was 5th.
