COMMEMORATION OF TWO ANNIVERSARIES
30 years ago the Games of the XXIInd Olympiad were held in Moscow while XVIIth Olympic Games in Rome were launched before 50 years. On July 30th in the premises of the Lithuanian NOC those two Anniversaries were commemorated in the presence of numerous guests, first of all, participants of those Games, among others, Moscow Olympic Games champions, Lina KACIUSYTE, Angele RUPSIENE, Robertas ZULPA and Remigijus VALIULIS.
Olympic Family
At the same event were also honoured two Lithuanian Olympians, Antanas BAGDONAVICIUS, silver medal winner in rowing and Birute KALEDIENE, bronze medallist in javelin, participants of the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. In two weeks they are following to Rome to take part in a series of celebrations to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Games.
Also present at this celebration were Valdas ADAMKUS, President of Lithuania, Vladimir CHKHIKVADZE, Ambassador of the Russian Federation. Arturas Poviliunas, LNOC President made a welcoming speech and invited all those who gathered to this event for unrestrained communication with Olympic Family members.
