Two Festivities at one time

On June 20 (Saturday) in park and stadium „Vingis", traditional events dedicated to the International Olympic Day took place in Lithuania. It was a great Olympic Day as it also embraced another magnificent event, closure ceremony of the IV Lithuanian Schoolchildren Olympic Festival.

Lithuania's president Valdas Adamkus,  NOC leaders ,Sports and Education Executives extended their thanks, presents and shining cups to the prizewinners. True sportsmanship is something they all have achieved - they had a chance to learn about the Olympic movement ,Olympic Games and received great encouragement to become involved in sport. Enough to remind that this Festival drew over 200.000 participants from 730 schools throughout Lithuania.

 Olympic mile (1988 meters) Run , the historic distance, attracted more than one thousand participants of different age and if we take together participants of schoolchildren festival, we receive a double number  of run amateurs.  10 km run brought representatives from all levels of society, former athletes and those who are determined to deal with opportunities and difficulties.

 This worldwide simultaneous event enjoyed a partnership of McDonald and Lottery eneterprise „Olifeja".
