DONATION OF SPORTS COMMUNITY MARKING LITHUANIA'S 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE

On 10 March,  in the premises of the Lithuanian Department for Physical Education and Sports (DPES), the Lithuanian Sports Community has celebrated the official launch of the first volume of Lithuania's sports encyclopaedai. Organised on the initiative and fully financed by DPES, it was collected and issued by the Lithuanian sports information centre.

This presentation was held in the presence of numerous personalities from the sports and political world including  Valdas Adamkus, president of the Republic of Lithuania, former athlete, double Olympic champion Angele Rupsiene, also double Olympic champion Virgilijus Alekna. Among the personalities present at this ceremony were the president of NOC, Arturas Poviliunas and general director of DPES, Ritas Vaiginas.

The Lithuanian sports encyclopaedia is the first publication created with electronic data and with the virtual Encyclopaedia for the public consultation process.
