20th Anniversary of the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee

On 26th January, the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee celebrated its 20th anniversary.

 

The personalities present included Parliamentary Speaker Irena Degutiene, Minister of Social Security and Labour Donatas Jankauskas, the interim General Manager of the Department of Physical Education and Sport (DPES), Ritas Vaiginas. The Lithuanian NOC President Arturas Poviliunas and Secretary General Vytautas Zubernis presented Vytautas Kvietkauskas, who is the President of the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee, with the Memorial plate of the LNOC. Congratulatory speeches were received from the Head of State Dalia Grybauskaite, Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius and from the presidents of International and European Paralympic Committees.

 

The highest decoration of the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee, the Medal of Honour, was awarded to Aldona Grigaliuniene, the first Lithuanian Paralympic champion. Aleksas Jasiunas, the President of the Lithuanian Committee for the Deaf has been also decorated with the same honourable distinction in recognition of his pursuance to disabled sport, education and culture constituent components shaping the system of Olympic values.
