Olympic star to fila president

On the 5th April 2009, the final day of the European Wrestling Championships in Vilnius, Raphael MARTINETTI, president of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA), has received the highest award of the Lithuanian NOC , Olympic Order of merit (Olympic Star).

This distinction was presented by the LNOC president, Arturas Poviliunas, in recognition of his contribution in preparation for this important event and his commitment to development

of sport and the Olympic Movement. Arturas Poviliunas has also presented three times Olympic champion Aleksandr Karelin with the Memorial plate of the LNOC.

On 3rd April, the numerous delegation of FILA and CELA leaders and executives, visited LNOC headquarters in Vilnius. FILA Secretary General , Michel Dusson and other guests, received Memorial prizes of the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee.

This meeting offered an opportunity to exchange opinion on the Championships teamwork mobilization,noted the smooth running of this important competition and the development of national action plans for wrestling sport.
