Courtesy visit of the russian federation ambassador

On Thursday, 2nd April 2009, Lithuanian NOC president Arturas Poviliunas received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Chkhikvadze accompanied by Counsellor Alexey M.Klim and Valerij Shteinbach, guest from Moscow, famous Russian journalist and writer, professor, director general of Publishing House „Olimpija".

At the centre of discussions taking place at the NOC‘s headquarters in Vilnius were the possibilities of sport and cultural cooperation including publication of books. Mr.Shteinbach would appreciate to initiate collaboration with the Lithuanian partners as concerns possible translations of Russian sport literature into Lithuanian and vice versa.

Also discussed were present-day works and plans for the future. NOC president Arturas Poviliunas also notified the forthcoming visit to Moscow for signing of agreement on cooperation between the two Olympic Committees. Also present at this ceremony was Vytautas Zubernis, LNOC secretary general.
